About Darek Shapiro
Darek Shapiro founded his business Environmental Architecture LLC in 1983. It is a full-service architecture design firm for commercial and residential projects. In addition to being an architect, Darek Shapiro is a certified building biologist and environmental inspector. He uses this experience to create architecture that improves health and productivity of the inhabitants and the surrounding environment.
Darek Shapiro is locally active in the promotion of green building and clean energy generation. He designs solar electric systems and teaches seminars on the subject of green building design locally.
Shapiro became active in politics a few years ago as an active member of Ct Climate Change Coalition. He regularly participates at State Government hearings to promote healthy environmental legislation.
At a local level Shapiro founded Stamford's 20% by 2010 Committee in March of this year. The committee convinced the BOR to approve a resolution for the City of Stamford to purchase 20% of it's energy from clean sources by 2010.
Shapiro entered Stamford's mayoral race last month The Green Party nominated him because of his support for their values of social justice, ecology, global responsibility, future focus and sustainability.
- 2004 Founded Stamford's 20% by 2010 Clean Energy Committee which successfully petitioned the City Of Stamford to buy 20% of its electricity from Clean Energy Sources by 2010.

- 2000: Married Crystal Schweighart, and purchased home in Stamford, CT.
- 1995: Certified as Environmental Inspector (I.B.E.I.) after 12 years experience in indoor environmental health, at the Institute of Bau-Biologie & Ecology, Clearwater, FL.
